The funeral service for dad last Sunday was recorded for our family and friends who could not attend due to the quarantine or distance and I am sharing for that reason. I am proud of the video at the end that Scoggins staff put together for us. It's impossible to sum up my dads life with just under 100 photos and some beautiful songs however it was a great collaberation of some of our best memories from our childhood with dad till recent years. I have watched it at least 20 times. I highly recommend Scoggins funeral services for your loved ones. I know it's hard to imagine wanting that service however when that time comes you want to know your loved one will be cared for and there will be great attention to detail on every account of the memorial service and it was for us for my mom and now for my dad. Thank you Scoggins Funeral Home and staff of Van Alstyne, TX. You are more like family to us than another business we appreciate.

I am very thankful for the help of Scoggins Funeral Home during the recent passing of my Grandparents. First Alvin Whitehead and this past week, Allene Whitehead. Their professional and friendly manner made us feel truly cared for. My parents and siblings had to travel from Canada and it was wonderful to know that matters were being taken care of. Both times Clayton was willing to go above and beyond to create dvd's of the services for those who weren't able to travel to Texas. With heartfelt thanks we do appreciate all that they did!

My wife and I lost our perfect little baby girl after 69 hours and 59 minutes in the NICU. We were in so much pain and had no idea what we needed to do, so the hospital chaplains recommended Scoggins to us. They not only treated our baby girl with the same love and care we did while she was with us, but took care of us and everything we needed to do for her.

Scoggins was incredibly supportive of my family from the moment we called them from the hospital when we learned that our dad was not going to make it. Clayton Stringfellow literally held our hands (and hugged us) through the entire process, ensuring that every detail was taken care of, answering every question we had, and anticipating our needs. The morning of the service, the weather was very stormy and Clayton, knowing that our mother is terminally ill with cancer, arranged for us to do the family service in the chapel at the funeral home so that she wouldn't have to be in the rain at the cemetery. They knew Pastor Lance Baker of Greywood Heights Church, where my parents have been attending in Van Alstyne since Daddy retired from the ministry, and they worked directly with him to make sure everything was prepared for the memorial. They have the ability to support a wide range of funeral services, from the very simple to the most elaborate. They made sure they understood exactly what we were looking for and never pushed us to do additional things that were unnecessary - in fact, they found ways to help us save money. As we prepare for the future needs of our family, we are setting our plans with Scoggins.

My husband and I found out we lost our baby during a scheduled 20 week sonogram. Because of Scoggins Funeral Home, our baby girl's ashes were respectfully laid at the foot of the cross in the local cemetery instead of being discarded at the hospital. My husband and I could not bare this or the intense emotional investment of a burial/funeral. We didn't know of any other option. Just hours before I delivered, God used Clayton as a hero to our family in providing a way that would allow us the closure we needed, while taking care of our baby. Clayton made all of the arrangements for us, and we never had to go to the funeral home. We also got the closure at the hospital with the peace of knowing she was fully taken care of to the very last detail of her life. Scoggins Funeral Home is one of many footprints made by God during our difficult time. 2 Corinthian 1:3-4 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”

Clayton and James both did an AMAZING job on my PaPa’s service. They both went above and beyond to make his service a beautiful and memorable one. My Papa was a Veteran who served in the United States Air Force and Clayton did everything he could to have the Air Force come in and give him an AMAZING 21 Gun Salute! My wife and I lost our baby girl in the 20th week of pregnancy. We were obviously really heart broken. Thanks to Scoggins Funeral Home, we were able to give our little girl a more than decent sendoff. Clayton was there to help us every step of the way. To me, it's rare to find an group of people or business that really impacts your life in such a positive way, but I'll never forget these guys. When I married 11 years ago, I lost touch with part of my family and learned recently that my cousin, Jack LeBleu in the Van Alstyne area ;had died. Not knowing how to contact any of his family, I called the funeral home and gave my contact info to Clayton Stringfellow and asked him to contact Jack's family with that info. I don't believe that falls in the category of his regular duties, but he did it. Needless to say, I've heard from my cousin and I am very grateful to Mr. Stringfellow for making this happen. Locally owned (corporate funeral homes seem to be driven by policies & the “bottom line, ” aka profit). Resources were available to help those who were experiencing grief/loss. My husband and I had our son Oliver April 24th 2019 but he was born sleeping. We never expected that our son had died. In such a horrible time in our life's Clayton was amazing and helped us with arranging Oliver's funeral. Clayton is very kind, has such a big heart and made sure everything was perfect for our son. My family could not have asked for a more kind and loving team to care for our 15 wk old babyin preparation for her send off to the Lord. Scoggins Funeral home took care of our family during a very difficult time. We lost our son at 21 weeks and they were so kind to us. They were amazing. They really care about the families that they are helping. Clayton set up such a beautiful service for our son in a short time frame. Our son died April 8th, 2019, and we had the service on April 12th. Clayton was in constant contact with our friend who helped us set up the funeral. Clayton walked us through everything with kindness and patience. He was so attentive to our needs and had the hospital paperwork expedited so that we could take our son's ashes home with us afterwards. Clayton did not miss any details and everything was beautifully done. The program was well made. Midway Floral, who created the arrangements were perfect. The online obituary page and tribute wall were well done. He connected us with a Pastor for our son's service as well. You can tell he loves what he does and loves helping families, it shows in the amount of detail he takes in making everything perfect. I felt he went above and beyond to help us. The funeral home was so clean and lovingly decorated, and the crematory was also bright and clean. The chapel was warm and bright, and overall the feeling from the funeral home was calming. We felt safe and assured having Scoggins Funeral Home take care of our baby. We spoke with the owner, Tommy Scoggins, he has a big hearted personality- he just wanted to help us have a beautiful service for our baby son. I am so thankful for these angels. They helped us get through a very difficult time. We don't know how we could have gotten through coordinating a funeral for our son, but with the guidance from Scoggins Funeral Home, we did. They took care of our dear son as if they were taking care of family. I highly recommend them for their kindness, warmth, and attention to detail. When we lost our newborn son Noah, calling a funeral home was the hardest thing I've ever done in my life. If you have every had to bury a loved one you know how hard it is to complete this task. However, when it is your 9 year-old daughter the task is even more difficult. From the time that we entered the funeral home Mr. Scoggins was incredibly compassionate and helped us navigate this very difficult journey with understanding and empathy. Clayton Stringfellow assisted us with obtaining funeral plots and working with the Van Alstyne Cemetery to help us with this task. Even though our family was devastated and had difficulty making decisions, Mr. Scoggins and Mr. Stringfellow helped guide us through the process with compassion and gave us peace throughout the process. The staff was so kind that we could not have gotten through this without their wisdom, warmth, and guidance. We will be forever indebted to Mr. Scoggins and Mr. Stringfellow for their assistance!
